Orpens was created by three wine people that shared family histories in orcharding and cider-making. They think a primium cider that draws inspiration from wine-making is not only an interesting angle on cider-making, but one that raises the quality of the cider category and improves the natural expression of the apples within the cider. By mixing our cider-making and wine-making know-how, Orpens has created a cider that takes the best from both worlds: it’s balanced by the natural acids and flavours in the fruit and doesn’t rely too heavily on sugar. So the apples do the talking!
Orpens is a single vintage Irish cider made from 100% fresh pressed apples. Using carefully selected fruit from quality orchards, the apples are fermented to cider as separate batches, vat aged, then blended together to create Orpens’ signature style. Resulting in a smooth, layered cider with an extra clean, crisp apple character and a fresh citrusy finish. Orpens works well with food, sunshine and friends. It’s pretty versatile and a great low-alcohol alternative to sparkling wine. We use cider, culinary and dessert apples varieties.
Orpens (5.3% ABV) pairs well with white meat, white fish, shellfish and salads. Its balanced sweetness and acidity also works really well with dishes with a little chilli pepper, garlic or ginger. Outstanding of course with pork dishes.
