In a boldly-designed monumental space that has been closed from public view for several years, Tribeton has created urban, yet comfortable surroundings that pay homage to Galway’s industrial heritage and provide a backdrop for casual and relaxed dining & drinking from open ‘till close. One of Galway’s best art-deco buildings is the backdrop for our work and your play. A vast open kitchen; one of the longest bars in Galway; a restaurant bounded by steel and comfortable lounges for leisurely days all contribute to something that’s just a little different and ever so bold.
Herby, brunch style cocktail. Muddled cucumber and basil, chilli bitters, lemon juice, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, shaken and topped with premium tonic water.
From the Curious Mind of PJ Rigney, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is slow distilled by hand with oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea at The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, Co.Leitrim. Through the years, the Curious Mind has taken many journeys from the familiar into terra incognita. The Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin botanical trail began in China, with PJ discovering and carefully selecting different botanicals as he made his way back through Indonesia, Morocco and Europe, finally finishing in the wild and unspoilt landscape of Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. He created The Shed Distillery, Connacht’s first Distillery in 101 years, with its gleaming medieval copper pot stills, and began a quest to fuse oriental botanicals with the local Irish ones. As it turned out, they got on very well indeed. The method combines vapour distillation of fresh Chinese lemons, Kaffir limes, and oriental grapefruits, along with the intriguing gunpowder tea, and pot still distillation of 8 other botanicals ranging from Chinese star anise to local Drumshanbo meadowsweet.
Launched in May 2016, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin was awarded Great Irish Beverages’ “Best Irish Gin and Tonic”, as well as “Best Irish Cocktail”, by public vote in Davy Macs, Waterford.
In 2017, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin was awarded Great Irish Beverages’ “Best Irish Gin and Tonic”, by public vote in An Púcán in Galway.
